The Israeli Occupation of Southern Lebanon
Since the beginning of the occupation in 1976, the Israeli Army has massacred thousands of Lebanese citizens in an effort to completely eradicate the will of the Lebanese people to live freely and without occupation. Israel has wagged a relentless campaign of terror against the Lebanese population. The Israeli army routinely destroys entire villages when one of its soldiers comes under fire. The outcome of such an incident is usually as follows: Israeli army units in the area of the incident would move the entire population of the area out of their homes with a minimum of belongings, and perform a house-to-house search. Then, army units would burn some of the houses, arrest all males between ages 15-55 and send them to a prison camp for detainment. The ones suspected of actively resisting the occupation are imprisoned indefinitely, tortured or sometimes mysteriously "disappear." Such actions, with the goal of intimidating and terrorizing the Lebanese population, are very common in Southern Lebanon. They illustrate why Israel still occupies a large part of that country.

Israel continues its murderous campaign of destruction in Lebanon. Lebanese territory remains under Israeli control. There can be no peace while Israel continues to control over 10% of Lebanese territory. The Lebanese people have a legitimate right to defend themselves against Israeli brutality. Hezbollah has affirmed that there will be no resolution to the situation in Southern Lebanon as long as the Israeli Army occupies Lebanese territory. Israel justifies its brutal and inhumane occupation by citing attacks against it occupying army. The question is not why are the Lebanese people resisting occupation; it is why is Israel still occupying a large part of Lebanon.
